Overview

Summary

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the availability of our customers’ data and voice networks, as well as deploying advanced network solutions to our customers. This role focuses on Day 2 operations; maintaining, patching, and updating network security solutions to achieve our customer's business goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Palo Alto Networks products, including Prisma Access, Prisma Cloud, and Panorama, and a proven track record of success in maintaining and optimizing complex network security solutions. Experience with other industry-leading vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, and Juniper are also highly desired.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Maintains and optimizes Palo Alto Networks security solutions, including firewalls, Next Gen Security for NGFW, Panorama, Strata Cloud, SD-WAN, Prisma Cloud, and SASE
  • Implements patching and updates to Palo Alto Networks products
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex network security issues within existing customer environments.
  • Works with other engineers to ensure the ongoing stability and security of customer networks
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation reflecting the current state of customer environments
  • Stays up-to-date on the latest security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Provides Tier 3 support to the NOC and internal teams
  • Participates in on-call rotation
  • Assists with the integration and management of Palo Alto Networks security solutions with other security technologies
  • Provides guidance and training to junior team members on Palo Alto Networks products and best practices

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of network administration
  • 5+ years in a network security engineer role
  • 3+ years of experience working with Palo Alto Networks products, including Prisma Cloud, and SASE
  • PCNSE/SSE certification
  • Expert- level understanding of network concepts and protocols, including SD-WAN technologies
  • Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, and Juniper firewalls is a plus
  • Experience with routing and switching technologies from Cisco, Juniper, Extreme, Aruba, and Ciena is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE or SSE)

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Palo Alto Networks Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security) or equivalent
  • Experience working in a Managed Service Provider environment
  • Other relevant certifications, such as Juniper Networks Certified Professional Security (JNCIP-SEC) or Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE)
  • Project Management
  • Familiar with change management process and procedures

Pay Range

$100,000 - $150,000

Base pay ranges are estimated. Actual base pay will be based on education, experience, location, certifications, skill set, and any other relevant factors. Incentive/variable pay opportunities are in addition to base pay.
